Acrossenger Posted August 12, 2007 #6 Share Posted August 12, 2007 Avis with C031529 AWD always worked well for me. Hertz with CDP discount code 1757580 is also good. Both of them don't need ID. They are safe to use for anyone.
Pusniski Posted August 23, 2007 #7 Share Posted August 23, 2007 The Hertz CDP code #393503 is showing as Macy's W FDS, whatever that may be. I thought people might want to know since it's marked "unknown." It's not giving any major price relief in the rental I'm looking at versus the other codes. Pusniski Posted August 23, 2007 #8 Share Posted August 23, 2007 But do you have to show any proof of anything if you use one of those codes? I've not been asked for ID's but I've always used "safer" codes and I belong to frequent renter clubs (Emerald Isle, Gold Club, etc) so I bypass the counter anytime I rent. Bypassing the counter is probably the biggie. ;) Don't use Avis employee, travel agent, government, etc. type codes unless you're actually eligible for benefits. Those codes tend to give people the most headaches and for obvious reasons.

I don't belong to any of the clubs they offer discounts for. I am worried when I get to the counter they will ask for a card or ID can someone please help. jimsig Posted October 14, 2008 #11 Share Posted October 14, 2008 Get ready for the stupid question of the day.... What are the codes for? The codes off some sort of discount on the rental. Some are a straight discount, other have extras included such as not having to be over 25yo to rent, free extra insurance, etc.

Thanks Some of the "clubs" are free to join such as the airline frequent flier and hotel ones. Join those and you will be all set. Most allow you to print out some sort of temporary card for proof. jimsig Posted October 14, 2008 #13 Share Posted October 14, 2008 I used to have a Rand McNally road atlas I picked up at Walmart a few years ago. Had discounts for car rentals and hotels, unfortunatly I have misplaced it. Anybody remember that atlas and have the discount numbers?
