bburns Posted July 30, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2005 DH and I looking into vacation next year. Would like to find a cruise that either begins or ends in Rome, as we would like to spend some extra days there. Does anyone have any recommendations on a cruise? Preferably something around a week in length?

corkpopr Posted July 31, 2005 #3 Share Posted July 31, 2005 We did the 10 day last june. We flew L.A. to Rome and took train to Sienna. Stayed two days winery hopping and touring including an olive oil factory and cheese factory. a one day wildcat national train strike forced us to hire our tour driver to take us the 2.5 hours or so to the port to catch the ship. that however was a fantastic side trip. the stops were naples, a sea day, mykonos, santorini, a sea day, malta, a sea day, barcelona, ville franc (nice/edz/monaco) and back to rome. we then stayed a day before flying home. loved rome but loved tuscany much more. going again in november with two days in rome and transatlantic on princess. you will love it!!!! cmvan25 Posted August 1, 2005 #5 Share Posted August 1, 2005 We have booked a 10 day cruise with Oceania Cruiseline for Rome to Athens april 21. Have friends who highly recommend the line. Smaller ships (680 passengers). Suggest you consider their 2 for 1 plus free air specials on their 2006 European itineraries. http://www.oceaniacruises.com Just a consideration for you. vacationhappy Posted August 1, 2005 #7 Share Posted August 1, 2005 Try Princess. We are leaving tomorrow for their Greek Isle cruise - includes Monte Carlo, Livorno, Naples, Kusadasi, Mykonos, Santorini, Athens, Katakolon, Corfu and ends in Venice. It begins in Rome. We are doing a 3-day pre-cruise stay in Rome and a 2-night post-cruise stay in Venice. The itinerary gives you a good mix of touring and relaxation.
