My late DH collected frogs in all sorts of materials from all our travels. He always found a new one each time we visited San Juan. The coqui (frogs) of Puerto Rico are a common souvenir design.

There are nicer jewelery stores on Fortaleza street, there are a pair of Barquet ones across the street from each other. Both have versions of silver frogs (coqui) that are in bracelets or earrings. Those are a lovely souvenir.

A spectacular Panama hat, hand blocked, you choose the finishing ribbon or band, from Ole' hat shop, also on Fortaleza street. Not cheap, but will last a lifetime.

Lace shop- also on Fortaleza, and there is a Puerto Rican Arts and Crafts store, also Fortaleza. Beautiful stuff.

You can also find junky ticky-tacky stores around, with cheapy things.

And yes- that butterfly store does have nice stuff.

If you are there around December or January- 3 kings/Tres Reyes items will be everywhere. These are fantastic Christmas decorations to add to your collection.
