megalyce Posted May 23, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 23, 2004 We've just returned from our wedding cruise on the Explorer. Any questions...? Holland American Veendam 3/03 Carnival Imagination 4/00 Lake Champlain Ferries 88-
BBALL DAD Posted May 23, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 23, 2004 What did you do in St. Martaan?
megalyce Posted May 23, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted May 23, 2004 We did the Golden Eagle Catamaran tour. It was fun, however, the seas going out were VERY rough. I mean VERY...and I'm not a wimp. There were quite a few people sick. The front of the catamaran was up and down probably about 15 feet...so if you don't have your "sealegs", it might not be the excursion for you. Also, the snorkeling wasn't that great. The rough seas caused the water to be cloudy and the waves were pounding the reef so badly, you couldn't really get that close. With that being said...we DID have a great time, the water was warm, the beach was great and the open bar was good. Hope that helps! megalyce Posted May 24, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted May 24, 2004 Also, one strange factoid: Drink prices varied based upon where you were on the ship. Beer was pretty standard (except in buckets, then the count/price varied) but a cosmopolitan at dinner was like $6, then the same drink at Dizzy's was over $8!!! I just don't get it. lisajoy Posted May 24, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 24, 2004 We were just on the explorer and did not notice any price change. The only time a drink price was raised is if you wanted to buy the glass it came in.

Brad1185 Posted May 25, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 25, 2004 Is the single lunch menu for the cruise as bad and tiring as it looks. Also any examples of the daily special.

alschmid Posted May 25, 2004 #10 Share Posted May 25, 2004 I just got back as well. Lunch menu was kind of tiring...we ate in windjammer more often than we normally would have. the two days we ate in the dining room for lunch the specials were pot roast and salmon. review will be coming soon -Amy
megalyce Posted May 25, 2004 Author #11 Share Posted May 25, 2004 The lunch menu IS nearly the same everyday, however it's still more relaxing than fighting the crowds in the Windjammer... We didn't eat at Portofino's, however, I did hear that it was very good.
