Since I cannot walk that well, any idea of taxi cost to shopping area. I know there is free trolley, but I cannot stand that long (did it once). Also, is it easy to get cab to get back to ship. I want to visit 2 shops on Fortaleza (Haitian Arts/Crafts and Puerto Rican Arts/Crafts. Thanks for any help.

Part of Fortaleza street is closed to vehicular traffic for renovations to the street itself. Sidewalks are open to pedestrian traffic. Taxis from the piers to anywhere within OSJ are $7 flat for up to 7 passengers. But I think the closest they will be able to get you is about 1/2 a block from the shops. You will need to walk back to Hotel Plaza de Armas which would be the nearest taxi stand.

It's not a long walk for people with no mobility issues but for those who have trouble walking, you need to know it is an uphill walk from the ship.
