Alaska Fires

We drove up to Talkeetna Friday and back to Anchorage on Saturday. I was surprised that there wasn’t more smoke and Mt McKinley was visible when we arrived. There is a 7 mile stretch of road that requires a pilot car and one way traffic south of Talkeetna. You can still see mop up crews along the highway in that area. We were delayed no more than 30 minutes.

We are in Fairbanks now. Can see and smell smoke in town. Fires have not interfered with any of our activities, but smoke is affecting views and visibility. Drove to Arctic Circle today - saw heavy smoke from fires in three different spots.
