We haven't stayed at Hyatt Pier 66, but have stayed at Renaissance - 17th St. several times and love the hotel and convenience to restaurants, etc.

We enjoy the Bimini Boatyard area and there is an Einstein's Bagels within a couple blocks for a light breakfast pre-cruise, and Walgreen's for supplies. I'm always happy when I get the Renaissance on Priceline.

As Royal said. The Hyatt is more or less a resort type property. Varied room locations and pricing depending on views. Renaissance is more or less a business hotel (chain). Very nice hotel and definitely in walking distance to restaurants and stores for last min pick-ups. The two are different in atmosphere.
