toad455 Posted February 2, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2006 Can someone tell what has happened to the old Carnival ships. I believe I know two of them but correct me if I'm wrong. Mardi Gras - scrapped in 2003. Carnivale - ?? Festivale - ?? Tropicale - No longer with Costa?? Jubille - P&O Cruises Australia as Pacific Sun. Thanks! dougnewmanatsea Posted February 2, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2006 CARNIVALE was the first to leave. Initially she became FIESTAMARINA for Carnival's ill-fated Latin American venture FiestaMarina cruises, then went to Epirotiki as OLYMPIC, then to the Greek shipowner Paris Katsoufis who renamed her THE TOPAZ in 1997. She was chartered to the British tour operator Thomson until 2003 when she was chartered to a Japanese organisation called Peace Boat. You can read more about her here. FESTIVALE was sold in 1997 to Dolphin Cruise Line who renamed her ISLANDBREEZE. In 1998 they became Premier, but she kept her name. She briefly became THE BIG RED BOAT III in 2000 before they went bankrupt. She was then laid-up at Freeport, Bahamas until she was broken up in 2003. TROPICALE left Costa in 2005 to join P&O Australia as PACIFIC SUN.
