samavarcruiser Posted July 20, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2010 After the successful evening openings of 2009, this year every Friday of April (except the 2nd), May, June, July (for the month of July open only on the 2nd and 9th), September and October the Vatican Museums will open their doors after sunset, from 7.00 pm to 11.00 pm (last entrance at 9.30 pm; exit from the galleries begins 30 minutes prior to closing time). Visitors will be able to admire the Egyptian Museum, the Pio-Clementine Museum, the Upper Galleries, the Octagonal Court (Cortile Ottagono), the Raphael's Rooms, the Collection of Modern Religious Art, the Sistine Chapel and the Galleries of the Apostolic Library. From the 30th of April during the evening openings will be open to the public the Gallery of St. Pius V which contain Medieval and Renaissance Pottery and the so-called Minute Mosaics, a typically Roman form of art that was very popular at the end of the18th century. Booking online on the official web site of the Vatican Museums is mandatory.
