linerode Posted July 26, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 26, 2017 We are going in to Barcelona two days before and one day after our cruise and we would like to find a good place for a flamenco show and then some tapas. We are staying in an apartment a few blocks away from Sagrada Familia.
EnricM Posted July 27, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 27, 2017 Flamenco is alien to the local culture, Catalan culture, and was majoritively brought to these shores by the successive waves of migrants from the south of Spain during the 20th century; thus, this is something you wouldn't find as part of our heritage here -or nowhere else in Catalonia for that matter. Having said that, and due to a common misconception by many foreign visitors on this issue, a few places were set up in the 80s, after all this is a market economy and where there's a demand there's an offer, and these days there are half a dozen businesses offering "shows for tourists". Most of them are quite crappy: tacky set-ups, mediocre performers, bad food and outrageous prices but, if you are really interested in flamenco -beyond the fanfare and the bad food that is- there are a couple of places that every once in a while bring good talented performers: Palau de la Música Catalana and Taller de Músics. Note, however, these are not the "shows for tourists" you might be referring to in your original question, and no food is served, just the music. There also might be from time to time other quality performances elsewhere. If you happen to be visiting Andalucía, that'd probably be the place to attend to a flamenco show as it's part of their culture and, therefore ingrained in their day-to-day. phillygirl2400 Posted July 27, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 27, 2017 Last year, we had dinner and saw the show at Tablao Flamenco Cordobes. The buffet dinner was ok and the show was wonderful. You can book the show without the dinner. See comments on TripAdvisor. Enjoy! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Couldn't agree more - Barcelona is a fabulous city buit not the place to see authentic Flamenco. Is your ship docking anywhere in Andalucia (Malaga, Cadiz, Motril)? pamrose228 Posted August 6, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 6, 2017 We also did dinner and show at Tableo. I believe it is at 55 Ramblas. I thought the food, cava and show were marvelous Sent from my SM-N920P using Forums mobile app
