Taxis in Kusadasi

I was just wondering if there are many taxis available at the port to go to Ephesus and how much these would cost.

Yes, there are usually a lot of taxis and they all would love to take you to Ephesus. If you were a local it would probably cost about $10. But coming off a cruise ship you can expect to pay $50 or more.....depending how long you want them to wait (or you can arrange for them to return). At the ruins, most folks enter at the top entrance....walk mostly downhill through the ruins, and then exit at the lower exit (which is a long way from the upper entrance). If you hire a taxi they will drop you at that upper entrance and then arrange to later meet you at the bottom.

If this is going to be your first visit to Ephesus, we do not recommend using a taxi. Instead, we strongly recommend booking a private tour with one of the many reputable companies in the area (our "go to" company is Ekol). The ruins can really be brought to life by a good professional guide. And we say this....being folks that rarely take any kind of tour. We also strongly recommend that no matter how you visit (on a tour, your own, etc) that you visit the Terrace Houses (this does add a small amount to the cost of most tours).

We were in Kusadasi a couple of weeks ago and there were taxi drivers outside the port gates. Hank is spot on with costs. We did not go as we are going again next year when it may be cooler but will arrange a private tour in advance. That's always providing things have calmed down by next May. I'm not putting money on it.
