Whale sightings Jan outta Long Bch?

Normally cruise the Caribbean but this Jan doin a 4 day outta Long Bch to Catalina + Ensenada> I've read the whale migration takes place around this time. Anyone have any experience around then with whale sightings?

I do know whale watching excursions go out of Long Beach all the time, though you'll have to keep your eyes peeled for grey whales and humpbacks. If you were on the seven day, you'd see scads of them!

Here in San Diego (just south of where you embark)there are lots of whale watching cruises in January. You should be able to see them from the ship if they are passing while you are on board.

Do you think we have much of a chance in December? We leave on the same cruise early in December.

You probably got the same chance we do. This site says the grey whales migrate south to Baja CA from Oct-Feb. Then Feb-April head back to the Artic feeding grounds. http://www.whaleroute.com/migrate/

Saw Dolphins at Catalina,but no whales.
