Galveston fog??

We are not used to the fog issue. We have sailed in and out of New Orleans in fog with no problems. Just wondering why it's different in Galveston realizing it's river sailing for several hours at N.O. Thanks.:)

 

You sails your ship. You takes your chances. Let the good times roll. LOL

This is a Port of Galveston and Coast Guard decision.

The channel is very narrow, the intercoastal canal crosses the channel and there are varying depths in the channel making it imperative to be spot on with navigation. All good reasons to cease ship operations.

 

Pretty sure the Harbor Master makes that call.
