Ocho Rios Excursions

I wanted to know if I should book Jamaica shore excursions thru the ship or find a private company? I was interested in the raft trip. Any advice on how to book?

We have always booked thru the ship...of course you pay more.

Others save and have booked independently and have had no issues.

I guess it is your comfort zone.

We NEVER book through the cruise line. Usually they cost more, and are more crowded. Book local and save some money. Check out Trip Advisor

We use the rule of thumb that if the excursion is a long drive from where the dock is, we will book through the ship so there is no chance of missing the sailaway due to mechanical or traffic issues.

If the excursion is within a half hour drive, we many times will book through a local. We have had EXCELLENT luck getting off the ship, asking around for a driver and making our own excursion with a private driver depending on both what we want to do and what they might suggest as far as local food or off the beaten path things.

Luckily, many fun adventures are very near the Ocho Rios cruise port, so I would not hesitate booking on my own. If you are in Falmouth or MoBay and want to go to Ocho Rios, I would think about a ship's excursion.

Our last 3 excursions we booked thru the Shore Excursioneer guys. 2 of them worked out, the other one was canceled because the ship got in late

(bad bad weather anyways). Our refund was sent within a day for that one. Everything else was as promised. Will use them again

I booked Richard Brooks for a shore excursion for 5-6 hours. He will take you anywhere that you want to go! Adventure, nature, history, arts & craft, dining and entertainment! He has a car that seats 7 and a bus that seats 14. The more people you have the less you pay. I found people on Cruise Critic Roll Call for my Princess Cruise and posted a message telling everyone about the tour. Within a couple of days I had 14 people signed up!

Richie was amazing! He is a laugh a minute type of guy and very entertaining! He took care of us the whole way, had beverages in his van and showed us the best of the island. His love of his country truly shows!
