FlightMedic555 Posted January 6, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2012 With stops in multiple places having local currency for Fiji, Tonga and Tahiti will be useful. I also need New Zealand $ for an excursion in Aitutaki. I hear that the purser can exchange some $. Does anyone know how good/bad the exchange rate is on the ship. mikenbob Posted January 6, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2012 In our experience, the ship uses the current exchange rate with no additional yield premium. In other words, the most favorable rate available.
Emdee Posted January 7, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 7, 2012 The ships rates were a lot better than our Toronto bank. Wont Teking take US$. In Rarotonga where we did quite a bit of shopping everyone took USD. As also in Fiji. In fact the pearls in Justin Hunter in Fiji were priced in USD. FlightMedic555 Posted January 7, 2012 Author #4 Share Posted January 7, 2012 Teking prefers NZD but says they will take a credit card. I like some local currency to buy gifts.
