Is Mazatlan safe now?

I am booking a cruise for the end of this year and was wondering if anyone has been in Mazatlan lately and if they feel the port is safe?

Just returned from two weeks in Mazatlan. Felt perfectly safe in both the old city and the Tourist zone. It is our favorite place in Mexico and we will be returning next year.

Mazatlan is safer than Miami or Los Angeles -but then it has always been safer than those two places.

Cruise lines are returning to Mazatlan because they deem it safe for cruisers who use good judgment. If you are concerned I would suggest you book a ship's excursion which might make you feel safer.

Mazatlan has spent millions of dollars to improve the security and have bent over backward to make the city safe so cruise ships would return. I don't see any reason for safety concerns there now.

Cruise ships may be just going back to Mazatlan but snow birds from Canada and the USA have been going there this whole time! We are looking forward to going back on our March cruise next year!! We are not worried about safety!
