chrismch Posted February 18, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2013 Can't seem to find any notices for Viking or Uniworld in doing cruises/tours in China after March of 2014? Do they not book that far out? Or is it because it is the 25th anniversary of the Tiananmin Square massacre and tours plan to steer clear of it for that time frame? id est Posted February 18, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 18, 2013 I think they are just in process of reconsidering their pricing. China tours are now available at groupon discount for as low as $1200 per person including air from LA.
june1 Posted March 1, 2013 #3 Share Posted March 1, 2013 Just saw your post about $1200 tours but can't seem to find on Groupon or google. Would appreciate any help or perhaps it has expired. Thanks, June
id est Posted March 1, 2013 #4 Share Posted March 1, 2013 I believe it was provided by http://www.affordableasia.com/ Was even cheaper with groupon if it is still valid
june1 Posted March 1, 2013 #5 Share Posted March 1, 2013 Thanks for your prompt reply. I went to their website and am on their email list. That groupon had expired but now I will watch for the next issue.
id est Posted March 1, 2013 #6 Share Posted March 1, 2013 You are welcome. I still do not get how river cruise companies manage to charge 3-4 times!!! more for a China trip providing pretty same itinerary and calling it "a cruise" where the cruise portion is usually 5 nights only. They charge more but they provide more. All meals, tours to Great Wall, Forbidden City, Terracotta Warriors were included in the price of the package of the cruise we took with Viking. We did not have to figure out meals each night and we didn't have to pay extra or make arrangements to visit the most popular of the attractions on the itinerary. franski Posted March 2, 2013 #8 Share Posted March 2, 2013 You also need to read the fine print on some of the tours.... Some do NOT include intra-country flights in the package. I have looked at some packages that seem to be a really great price - until I add in all of the "extras". Fran
