Cab driver Tony, do not hire!

We hired cab driver Tony on the Grand Turk. Paid him $100 to drive us around the island, drop us off at lunch and bring us back from lunch to the cruise ship. He never came back for us. We had to pay additional cab fare to get back.

He is a member of some fraternal organization on the island and will show you pictures of him in his uniform while you are in his cab. He is proud to be part of that group. The group must not have "honesty" as part of their pledge!

Not sure how many in your party, but $100 seems a bit steep.

One way to avoid this with cab drivers is if you're just eating lunch, invite them to join you and pay for their lunch (no alcohol). Also try to get a cell phone number so you can call. Or a dispatcher number. Assuming the guy went back to the cruise terminal for another r fare, he might have picked up another "tour". If he went home, might have been nappy time.

So sorry to hear this.

One piece of advice. Never pay until the end.
