If it is indeed booked as 1 ticket, you will not need to pay any fees for the bags.

Same goes for a possible return flight.

Hi,thanks for quick response.Im assuming its 1 ticket as it is 1 confirmation number even though it is a day and a half between connections. That was Deltas fault because the original conn was 11am and they cancelled and put me on 10pm,cheers,Brian.

Even if you book a multi-city ticket with multiple days between flights on the same PNR, you will still have the "free" bag allowance.

However, be careful if you book these kind of tickets through third party websites, as they sometimes tend to scramble together separate tickets into one reservation. So you will see your flights as 1 reservation through them, but in fact, you could have bought completely separate tickets.

If all of your flights are listed on your confirmation on the Delta website, you're safe.

We will be flying Oct 5, Delta from Boston to New York-JFK and on to Rome. There is no baggage charge (for one bag each) on the domestic leg as it goes to an International airport.

Hi,we done this trip and they did try to charge us.They argued it was over 12 hrs cons and we didn't check straight thru from LHR,which is immposible this flight. They phoned a supervisor who waived the fee as a gesture of goodwill, cheers,Brian .

If it is all on the same ticket, they tried to trick you, no goodwill whatsoever. The agent probably didn't take a proper look at your reservation.

Let's take this imaginary trip as an example:

LHR - JFK - BOS same day travel, booked as 1 ticket -> bag allowance is included in your ticket

LHR - JFK - BOS where the JFK - BOS leg is done a few days later, but is ticketed on the same reservation -> Also in this case, bag allowance is included for ALL legs

LHR - JFK - BOS where the JFK - BOS leg is either the same day or on a later date, but has been issued as a separate ticket, you will need to pay for the JFK - BOS part

However, if you buy tickets through 3rd party agents it might not always be very clear to you if all the flights have been ticketed under the same PNR. Therefore, always check the PNR number and cross check that on the airline's website to see if the number of flights on that PNR match the ones you have on your reservation you've gotten from your travel agent.

HI,they were not very helpful. After we resolved this issue they issued my boarding pass and then took half an hour on the phone to try and issue my partners.I haven't a clue what the problem was,I was just glad to get away from there, cheers,Brian.

The expansion by DL at SEA has left them both short stafffed and ill-staffed. Folks who really don't know how to efficiently do their job, with a lot of "rookies". Bunches of agents standing out in the front, pointing where you should go, but no one jumping in to help out. A couple of weeks ago, for an early flight, the Sky Priority lane was as long as the regular line, with only one agent working. Was much faster to go in the main line...where two agents worked where there were six stations available.

And yes....they were trying to make it seem they were doing you a favor. More likely, trying to cover that they didn't know the rules in the first place.
