Formal Night On Royal Caribbean

We are going on Majesty of the Seas, can my husband just wear a long sleeve shirt and tie on formal night and still fit in?

B/c Majesty sails short cruises it is among the most casual. My 1st cruise was on Majesty & we looked forward to Formal night. What a dissappointment. We were about the only ones dressed up & 2 hours after dinner, everybody else had changed back into shorts.
