Norwegian Escape casino impressions and opinions.

I kind of thought it'd be cool to have an entire Escape thread just about the casino. I don't give my full opinions non judgemental hopefully and hopefully nobody gets offended. Remember these are simply my opinions. I actually spent quite a bit of time in the casino much more than I thought I would. I'm not a big gambler I spent 20 bucks at a slot machine lol. Thankfully the smoking in the casino is about 50 50 and it was separated pretty well. They weren't enforcing the whole you have to play the smoke rule so when walking through I would usually stop there and have a cigarette. I will occasionally talk to some of the players and offer encouragement for them to win. Tbh I've never quite understood gambling it is designed so you cannot win. I was talking to one guy was telling me about all the free Cruise and Ged and all I could scream in my head was you pay for the Cruise with a massive amount of money you lose he even admitted to losing much more than he ever wins. I fully respect everyone's right to have fun and if that's all it is I can kind of understand. After I lost 20 bucks I felt like I had lost enough lol. What was everyone else's impressions of the casino? Did you have fun?

I'll bite. I had a blast as I always do. I take the amount of money that I would have spent on the cruise, that I get for free, and that's my gambling budget. Sometimes I lose it all, sometimes I come home with buckets of money. I have so much fun in the casino, and I'm playing with their money, since I would be cruising anyway. It's a no brainer for me.

When you put it that way it actually makes sense. The guy I was talking to all he would say is how much money he always loses but he gets free cruises and all I could think was if you're losing money constantly wouldn't you eventually want to stop. But the way you said it makes a lot more sense.

The casino was wicked smokey and I didn't see any separation at all on the 7 day, in fact you should smell it all the way down to 6.

DH spent a lot of time and money there and I thought the games themselves weren't great. No Walking dead and only 3 wheel of fortune. No older style slots, mostly all new digital games that took 30 cents and only paid out 10-15 cents so it looked like a win when it actually was a loss.

I have the same outlook as suitecruiser. I get my free cruises from CAS or from other total rewards casinos, so I figure the money I would have spent on my cruise is all free gambling money. So any winnings are a bonus. I've hit a few jackpots and pre-UBP promos had the free drink card which also paid for itself. Also love being able to just go there and have a couple cigarettes. Glad that it is just like I had suspected it would be, smoking allowed after all the non smoking threads.

I'll take a second bite. My first (NCL) cruise on the Getaway was in Feb thru a land based casino. I got a free balcony but upgraded to a spa mini suite for $400 more. The cruise was only $1400 total for 3 persons. I did play in the casino and also got free drink cards. I did lose. But when I came back, CAS emailed and called for 3 free cruises this year and 3 free cruises for 2016. If you add all those up....I think I'm pretty ahead. I'm gonna play regardless and if they want to offer me anything than its a plus in my book

There were only about five or six machines I enjoyed playing. My issue with the casino was how loud some of the machines were. On the TA, they had huge sound issues (some machines made no sound at all while others like The Flintstones could be heard two decks away!).

By November 14th, many of the sound issues had been resolved but still machines like Goldilocks were unbearably loud with no volume control options. When playing in that area, it really got annoying.

Just got off the escape this morning. As as a smoker I thought the machines in the smoking area was crappy compared to the non smoking areas. I play quick hits and actually won on the non smoking side. The ones on the smoking side seemed to not pay out as well either.

All of the machines I played had volume controls on them. I would turn them down in the morning when I played but as the casino filled up I had to turn them up. You are right they are super loud when on full blast.

That's why it's called gambling. You never know when or where you will hit. I'm sure the machines are not set to pay out differently just because they were on the smoking side.

We were on it 11/14 and I spent a lot of time there, And never noticed a smoking or a non-smoking side. I saw people smoking though out.

Where was the delineation? Every machine I sat at said, thank you for not smoking, but everyone was still smoking. I'm not throwing stones but it will make a huge difference when they build the smoking room. They should put a bar in there too. Why don't they give smokers an enclosed bar?

I haven't been on the escape but I'm guessing that the smoking section is just like on the other *Away ships where the right side is designated smoking and the left is non smoking.

just wondering if anyone knows, do they have the wizard of oz penny game? I won like crazy on that in Vegas and I love wizard of Oz lol

Just be aware that there are MANY different versions of wizard of OZ slots. The one they have may not be even remotely similar to the one you played in Vegas. But I've never met a Oz slot that I don't like [emoji41]

I'm not sure where the signs were on the breakaway either but usually if there is an ashtray then it's smoking and if there is no ashtray then it is non smoking.

Yes, there are two of them -- in between The Flintstones and Willy Wonka machines.

Tracy

wow, flintstones and willy wonka too? sounds like the game choices are much better than the away ships - gotta start saving now to put into these machines haha

On the TA, those controls weren't working on most of the machines. Probably just teething issues, but I had a headache from hearing "Yabba Dabba Dooo!" at insanely high volumes over and over again.

This is one of the reasons I don't like all the a la carte changes. The comped base fare used to cover a lot more than it does now. If I sail in the future, I will have to budget some of that "saved money" for upcharges, not gambling.

Ok big deal so you don't gamble away your money you spend it with something else lol. I understand gambling for fun when it comes to a little bit of money but the people who are spending north of $100 I don't judge you but I just don't understand. There are so many short things on a ship you can just buy without the maybe maybe not of gambling.

Fair that you don't understand it, but it is something I do. I would gamble without comps, but if I can get something for it, why shouldn't I? It is my entertainment. I don't understand drinking oneself into a stupor or listening to loud dance music. To each his own.

Omg, I couldn't even imagine how loud that must have been then! The machines that were set on high were so annoying. They should just then them all down to medium.
