For Van Morrison Fans Visiting Belfast...

It was announced on Friday that a self guided Van Morrison Trail has been created in East Belfast, covering many locations referenced in Van's songs. If you have a smart phone, music excerpts can be download at points along the Trail. As Van is my favorite singer/ songwriter, I was happy to hear about this, and want to share this news. It would be a great port activity in

Belfast.

Thank you for the links Harry. They brought back a lot of memories.

Them played at a club called the Maritime (which had been a home for sailors) and they (Them) used to practice there during the day. I went to a college that was beside the Maritime, so spent many lunchtimes listening to the practice and jams.

The Maritime has been demolished, but there is a plaque now where it used to be. (Useless nugget of information, shortly after Them left the Maritime, a new band started residency there called the Taste with a very young Rory Gallagher.)

I first heard Van around 1970 when I was finishing high school. It was at the Filmore East in NYC. He was the opening act for the Quicksilver Messenger Service. Frankly, until that show I had never heard of him!
