Restaurant/San Diego

The Yummers met at Anthony's Fish Grotto last month. I think it's real near the terminal.

My girlfriend took me to The Boathouse in Harbor City (kind of by the airport). They have $11.95 dinner specials on Mon, Wed, and Fri:

Mondays - Crab

Wednesdays - Whole lobster

Fridays - Prime Rib

Enjoy!

Right on Harbor Island are several restaurants - Tom Ham's Lighthouse at one end and Island Prime at the other. Island Prime is top notch and there is another level, called Clevel where the food is less expensive and you can fill up on several appetisers or pasta and watch the sailboats and cruise ships if one happens to be sailing that afternoon. But it is a popular place and you should plan to be there early. Also, check with the concierge at the hotel for other suggestions nearby. The restaurants I mentioned are walkable, but for most others it would be a cab ride:)

If you are planning to take a cab, I can recommend the following within a reasonable distance:

Little Italy: http://www.littleitalysd.com

The Indigo Grill

Filippi's Pizza Grotto

Café Zucchero

Buon Appetito

Crudo

Embarcadero close to the cruise ship pier

Anthony's Seafood Grotto

The Fish Market

Karl Strauss Brewing Company

Rainwater's (a little fancier)

You can also cab to the San Diego Trolley to the Little Italy station and take it to Old Town (Mexican food) or to the Gaslamp. If you do, get the number for calling a cab when you take the Trolley back to the station as there are no cabs waiting at that station.

Not too far south is Seaport Village with lots of places to eat, and worth you time is also the USS Midway which is open to visit..... The day we left our ship, we went to our hotel and checked in and dumped the luggage then got a cab to Seaport Village (had lunch) and then did some walking.

We are staying at the Holiday Inn on the Bay for 2 nights pre cruise and then staying in Mission Valley one night post cruise.

Seaport Village and Gaslamp Quarter have some really nice restaurants. The Elephant & Castle off the lobby of the Holiday Inn had decent food when we were there last.

here is a good link to San Diego Magazine's restaurant best selection guide. http://www.sandiegomagazine.com/media/San-Diego-Magazine/Department-Archive/index.php?tagID=42

I would recommend either Little Italy or the Gas Lamp for a nice urban feel or Harbor Island if you are looking for a view and want to stay by your hotel. I am not really a huge fan of any of the restaurants on Harbor Island. I guess the Boathouse is probably the best.

One somewhat differnt alternative that I would highly recommend would be to take the passenger ferry from the Broadway pier over to Coronado Island to Peohe's. The restaurant is right at the ferry landing.
