Rare Keith1010 Posted April 23, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 23, 2017 It's a good writeup and thank you for posting it. Actually a lot of useful information that goes beyond just currency information. Thanks again for positing it. Keith
Rare Hlitner Posted April 23, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 23, 2017 That is a pretty decent slide show, but does lack a few key points. If you plan on using ATM cards (which is the best way to get cash) make sure to notify your issuing bank of your itinerary...before you leave home. And also have an ATM card that does not assess extra fees on withdrawals (plenty of Credit Unions and smaller Regional Banks have no extra fees). Also be cognizant that there are daily withdrawal limits (usually somewhere between $300 - $500) imposed by your issuing bank and the overseas system. With credit cards, get yourself a credit card that does not assess "foreign exchange fees." For example, AMEX Green/Gold cards impose a 2.7% fee on every foreign exchange fee....but a Capitalone Master Card has zero foreign exchange fees. And notify your credit card company of your trip and itinerary (some cards now longer want travel info....but you should check before your trip. For those of us who travel extensively it is also a good idea to never rely on a single ATM or Credit Card. We now carry 3 different ATM cards (all fee free) each drawn on different accounts and banks. If something happens to one of those cards (or accounts) the others will work. And if we need more cash then the daily limit....we can use all those cards on the same day to maximize our withdrawals. Hank
