Maasdam A/C problems - affected areas?

Quoting from LocoLoco's review: but he said he would take the cruise again if it only cost $30 a day, not the $60 a day he apparently paid. Take it from there.

The ambiance aboard MAASDAM I would describe as 'sedated'. No...t'was funereal.

HAL is in trouble. Repeat...HAL is in trouble. Things have apparently changed recently on the HAL corporate level. Naughty, naughty HAL. Remember having a Librarian? Gone. 'Chocolate Extravaganza'? Gone. Ice sculpture carving? Gone. Poolside 'Beach Boy' live music? Gone. Sail-away Aft Deck Cocktails, HEATED Pools, Activity Directors for exercise, Volleyball, etc, BBQ Poolside Hog roast Luaus, all Deck Lounger chairs free for all passengers, late evening departures from Ports.... all gone.

.....

I give the Cruise per se a 3-STAR rating solely account the wonderful staff and Ports. Would we take this 33-day cruise again...for $1000/bucks? Probably. For $2000 ? No.

Thank you for posting this.

Does that mean that HAL is now charging for using Deck Lounger chairs??

HAL does not charge for deck chairs.

This could be a reference to the chairs reserved for those in Lanai cabins on some ships.

Yes, the Maasdam has Lanaii staterooms, so the comment must refer to the Loungers reserved for those rooms.

Have a wonderful cruise Ruth.

We've posted several times about our March-April 2017 miserable experience on the Maasdam, in a Neptune suite on deck 10, port side, during a 33 day trip to the South Pacific. 76 - 86 degree temps daily, with assurances that they are working on it! Believe that, and I've got a bridge to sell you!!! They should have been working on it since 2004, when cruisers began posting about the A/C issues.

We didn't know about these on line forums, and wish we had had warnings before booking our bucket list, dream trip. Of course, HAL, in its fraudulent and deceptive trade practices, doesn't warn you that there may be a problem with your suite a/c! And we feel sorry for those who have booked Neptune Suites on this ship through 2018. . . BUYER BEWARE!!!! And HAL has even increased the fare for the same trip we took by more than $1000 per person! Enjoy keeping your draperies closed, sleeping with wet towels around your neck in front of noisy box fans, and forget about trying to do hair and makeup in the vanity dressing area. You might have a heat stroke. Cold showers and sleeping with wet hair helps a little. Of course, if you are going to Alaska or the Northeast, you'll probably be ok with no a/c. . .BUYER BEWARE!
