iko Posted December 30, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 30, 2007 On our next cruise our port stops in Scotland are Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Inverness. Does anyone know how far it would be to get into the city from the Port in these cities?
edinburgher Posted December 30, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 30, 2007 Hi, Nice to see more new members joining CC. Welcome. Dont want to scare you when you just posted for first time, because that first post is daunting! This is meant to be helpful info not criticism. It can take a little time too figure how to get the most out of this forum, so here is a tip. If you are LOGGED ON you can go to whichever board you are interested in and look for SEARCH THIS FORUM. By clicking this, you can enter eg Edinburgh or Glasgow or Inverness or wherever. The search results which will appear will all contain that word. By reading through these at your leisure you will pick up lots of info, including answers to the questions you just asked and much more more. It is an easy way of getting lots of useful info because people dont always reply when they see the same questions asked over and over. As far as Edinburgh is concerned, can I suggest you check your itinerary to see which port is listed for your ship? This is because there are 3 separate docking areas for Edinburgh. Leith is in Edinburgh itself, and Rosyth and S. Queensferry are both some distance from the city. Transportation to/from each will be very different. There should be helpful information on all 3 docking areas in previous posts(search this forum) The same applies to Glasgow. The port is usually Greenock. Rare Keith1010 Posted December 30, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 30, 2007 Welcome to Cruise Critic. Don't worry about doing searches right away. There are multiple ports for Edinburgh. For example there is one that depending on traffic can take one hour or so to get into Edinburgh whereas there is another one that is right in this charming city. So, if you can find out from the cruise line which one you will be docking in that would be a great help. Keith
