We have a whole day precruise in November. Flying into FLL but cruising out of Miami. Need advice for which place to spend the day? We are a group of 8 including 4 kids ages 15-20. Airboat? South Beach? Daily boat rental? Help!!

Thank you

If you want to see the Everglades, you can either rent a large van and drive to a number of places. The two closest to Fort Lauderdale are Everglades Holiday Park and Sawgrass Recreation Park. Further west of Fort Lauderdale along Alligator Alley is Billie's Swamp Safari (airboats and swamp buggies). There is also a package for Everglades Holiday Park that includes transportation: https://www.evergladesholidaypark.com/everglades-vip-tour/ However, never pay full price. You can find all sorts of coupons online or in the information publications all over town.

Also in Fort Lauderdale, you can take the water taxi, but you have to pay per person. Another idea is to rent the Ecoboats, which are very easy to navigate. We have done this a number of times with friends and family from out of town. One boat holds up to 10 people and you can bring a cooler with food and drinks. http://riverwalkrec.com/activities/e-boats/ Look at the rental as opposed to the tour.

In Miami, a fun day would be spent at South Beach. The beaches there are great, there is lots of shopping, and plenty of people watching. Parking can be a challenge, but there is plenty of metered street parking and garage parking around the city. Bike rentals and segway tours are also something to consider.
