H! I wonder if anybody can help. My family and I are going on the Costa Serena at the end of February and were wondering what plug sockets are there? European, English, American... etc.? Also, are there plenty? Just myself alone I have a phone charger, straighteners, hair dryer etc.

TIA

*edit* Just remembered I had another question! What currency will we need on the ship? Euros? Dollars? My understanding is you use a 'Costa card', which is attached to a credit/debit card, for most purchases, but what about in the casino?

There are a few "European" type plugs in the cabin. Also right above the main desk is a "European and American" style plug.

There is also a hair dryer in the cabin.

Your expenses will be charged in Euros.

Casino I'm not sure.

The electrical sockets (not the bathroom which only has an electric razor socket) are European Type F, there are usually one or two, you will have to search for them (under the desk), also Type C plug can be used in Type F socket.

With regards to Casino, in the past you could get money there on your credit card with a 3% transaction surcharge.

Thank you both for your replies. I am going to just assume that the casino will also be in Euro cash. Do you think I'm safe to do so?

This is my first ever cruise so I just want to be prepared! My family have been on others, but never a Costa cruise.

The onboard currency on the Serena in Dubai (including Casino) is Euro.

If you have any other questions just ask, if you don't get an answer then go straight to the horse's mount (Costa). As there are no horses onboard , your little flutter will have to be in the casino and not on the geegees.

Thank you! That's really helpful to know.

You can put cash on your costa card by inserting them into the slot machines and going through a simple process.you then transfer all or part of that cash each time you play and then when you finish, put it back onto your card.you can cash in on the last night at the cashiers office in the casino and they give you euros in return.we put €20 on ours and cashed in for €58 mainly on the video poker game.
