Rare Acrusa Posted March 28, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 28, 2016 Arriving into TBIT from our AirTahitiNui flight at 10:10 AM.Do we have enough time to make an AA 12:45 PM flight or should we opt for a Delta 1:30pm flight to JFK? We have Global entry and pre check.
SadieN Posted March 28, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 28, 2016 (edited) With GE, DD was at the greeting area of LAX within 30 minutes of landing. YMMV. Knowing this I'd still take the later flight. LAX is always unpredictable. It's only 45 minutes later and gives you a cushion Edited March 28, 2016 by SadieN
Baseball fan Posted April 29, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 29, 2016 Although the AA terminal is next door to TB (go right)....I'd feel more comfortable with the extra time. Delta is next door to the AA terminal.
VibeGuy Posted April 29, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 29, 2016 With GE and thus Pre, I'd actually be inclined to take AA - there are certainly plenty of recovery options in case something goes awry. Even if you arrived at a remote stand (unlikely at that time of day) and had to shuttle in to TBIT, I still think you've got over an hour of cushion for a late-arriving flight. Let's add data to the discussion: here's how the Air Tahiti Nui flight has performed for the last two months: http://www.flightstats.com/go/FlightRating/flightRatingByFlight.do;jsessionid=E0E9A206F1B57B6B1AA3EB1BB86395A2.web2:8009?flightNumber=8&airline=TN&departureAirportCode=PPT&arrivalAirportCode=LAX Half the time, the flight arrives within 15 minutes of the scheduled time. 32% of the time, the flight arrives within 15-29 minutes of scheduled ("Late") 12% of the time, 30-44 minutes late. 4% of the time, >45 minutes late. So 96% of the time over the last two months, you're going to have 110 minutes *or more* to clear customs, recheck and get to T4. 82% of the time, you're going to have at least 125 minutes or more. 50% of the time, 140 minutes or more. AA says 80 minutes for an AA Intl to AA domestic at LAX, and that has to include both customs and remote stand operations for non-GE/Pre pax, so 155 minutes? Totally doable. It's also a longer schlepp from TBIT to DL. Take AA and never look back.
