Great pictures -- thank you for sharing them.

It has been several years since we did a Canada/New England cruise.

Wonderful zombie photos. It must have been great to have seen that walk. How many participants were there all zombi-ed up? I wonder how long the make up took to get the third lady ready - she is all done up. Thanks for sharing!

There were more than 200 zombies. Our photography group had 56 members attending! you can see more photos at

That was I -- have only seen 2 or 3 butterflies. And of course I didn't have my camera handy.

Thank you for the pictures.

So many great photos of Bejing, beautiful flowers, butterflies, ugly (:D) zombies, thunderstorms and the moon in La Spezia!

Here are some photos from my week, with a water-theme.

Old canal cruise ship Diana (built in 1931) in Vadstena, Sweden.

The same ship just outside of my summer house on it's way to Gothenburg.

20140721-01.jpg

Some small boats seen from a beach a ten minute walk from my summer house. It was just before sunset when I took the photo.

20140723-01.jpg

The beach itself. Not big at all, but crowded with people in the summer if the weather is nice.

Some more photos will follow...

A nice yacht on its way to the city of Vadstena.

Another older and smaller yacht that has just left Vadstena.

Another strange boat. I guess it has been a fisherman's boat. The name means "brave".

Finally the old ship Diana returns from Gothenburg on it's way through Sweden to Stockholm on the east coast.

If you’re interested in a canal cruise through Sweden, you can cruise with Diana or two other small cruise ships; Wilhelm Tham (built in 1912) and Juno (built in 1874).

It’s rather expensive though, about USD 2000 p/p for a four day cruise from Stockholm to Gothenburg (or vice versa). The cabins are small (tiny…) but the food is good onboard. The scenery is very nice, sometimes it feels like the ships are sailing on land as the canal is very narrow.

More info on these cruises can be found here:

Those old boats are real classics.

Eric

If we could handle long flights, we would love to do a cruise on one of the older, smaller ships.

It's a very different experience from other cruises. All you can do onboard is sleep, eat, take a drink, meet other people and, of course, watch the scenery outside of the ship.

The cabins are tiny, I guess about 50 square feet.

M/S Juno, built in 1874, is believed to be the oldest ship in the world with cabins still in operation (that has been cruising regularly all the time).
