Private island - flies?

Just wondering if there are still a lot of flies on the private island in Aruba - the one where you take a boat ride out from the Renaissance. We have been quite a few times but the last time (a couple of years ago) there were so many flies it ruined the day. Aruba is on our itinerary February 2017 and we are hoping whatever the problem was has been resolved.

Flies can be quite a problem on Renaissance Island. We have stayed at Renaissance Suites for the last two years. Some days, the flies aren't too bad, and other days, they are absolutely horrible. It doesn't seem to matter if it is a windy day or not. Mosquitoes can also be bad, at times, especially around dusk.

Are we talking big black house flies or sand flies?
