It depends entirely on what plan you are considering at insuremytrip. Have you picked one out?

I think the one big difference is that cruiseline insurance only covers the cruise, while other travel insurance covers from the time you leave your house until your return.

Most cruise line insurance has far less medical and evacuation coverage than you can buy at the same price or sometimes less from a separate company. Also, as mentioned above, I like my insurance to cover me from the time I leave my house until I return.

There are differences but all policies, including those you can purchase on your own, are not the same.

So the answer is you are best to compare what s offered by RCI and its cost to other policies offered that you can purchase on your own.

Thanks for the info. Year ago we took out the cruise line insurance. Then as we got older we decided to take out insurance with our travel agent.
