PAcop141 Posted December 20, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2006 I would like to go on a dive while in St. Thomas but no one else in the group are divers. Does anyone know of any trips where the rest of the family could snorkel while I dive? Thanks.
flyau98 Posted December 20, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 20, 2006 We just got back from a cruise on the Constellation, and dove in St. Thomas. Underwater Safaris was the company that provided the ship-booked SCUBA excursion and where we went (Rye Reef) had some snorkel boats there. The dive was nice, though I was a bit disappointed in the dive boat service. Nothing but water from a 1-gal bottle on board, though they offered to let us run into a store at the pier to buy somehting to bring with us. No snacks between dives, and we did 2 dives at the same site (reef and a very close wreck). For the $100+/per person without equiptment, I expected a bit more. The staff was nice and we had a good divemaster, though they let you know very clearly at the end that tips were expected. All that said, it was a nice trip, and very easy (the shop and boat are at the cruise ship pier). Call the shop and ask if they are the operator for your cruise and ask about brining a snorkeler. 340-774-3737 www.scubadivevi.com wwo@islands.vi
coevan Posted December 20, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 20, 2006 Coco beach is very nice, reef 30' off the beach. Great for snorkeling, my wife did a resort dive course there and loved it.
JTJ Posted December 21, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 21, 2006 St Thomas Dive Club @ Bolongo Bay takes both snorklers & divers to Buck Island, they will also pick you up if ship is at WICO and drop to off afterward for free. The dive shop is next to Bologo Bay Beach Resort and you can lay out by the beach and buy drinks at the bar after diving. We have used them 3 times. If the ship is at Crown Bay we use blue island divers (used them once), they go to Flat Cay & a wreck. http://www.stthomasdivingclub.com/
bruce-r Posted December 24, 2006 #5 Share Posted December 24, 2006 http://www.cokidive.com is directly on Coki beach. They do guided dives, discover scuba dives for the uncertified, and rent snorkel gear if you don't have your own. It is right next to Coral World. coevan Posted December 25, 2006 #6 Share Posted December 25, 2006 That is the beach I was talking about. Coki is great for a shore dive or snorkel.
