Okay everyone. Which ship? Sunshine or Breeze and why? It will be my parents (70's) my sister (50) my DH and I (47) and my 2 boys (12 and 14). We are looking at the Christmas 2015 sailing on both ships and the cruises are both 8 days. We are mainly interested in the ship differences and why you prefer one ship over the other. Thank you for your help in this!!!!!!!

The Sunshine is smaller since it was Destiny before but it was refurbished last year or two. IMHO the ship update basically was to replicate the Breeze experience so they are similar. I have been in both and the only major difference is the size of the ship. The 2 times we have been on the Sunshine we had a good experience.

We liked the Breeze much better than the Sunshine. We book balconies and the cabin on the Sunshine seemed smaller and the bathroom was much smaller - I think the shower might have been bigger - but the rest of the bathroom was smaller. There are no mini-fridges on the Sunshine (unless you need one for meds) - but then it isn't built in and takes up space. Also the Sunshine left out of New Orleans and that is my least favorite embarkation port. If there will be more than 2 in the room go for the Breeze. We're going back this winter and trying a cove - can't wait!

We were on the Sunshine this year and the Breeze last year, and in my opinion the Breeze is the way to go. I do like the larger ship, and deck 5 (promenade) is very cool, because you can walk around the entire ship..:D

Having sailed both ships, if the price and itinerary were similar, with a "gun to the head" choice, I'd probably go with the Breeze..however, to us, not an automatic or easy choice. The "decor" on Breeze and Sunshine "ARE" similar, seems the cabins on the Sunshine, particularly the existing cabins on Sunshine do seem a bit smaller, however, and this of course is personal preference, though the 4J cabins we had both times we sailed the Sunshine we smaller than 4J's on the Breeze, the Sunshine had a larger or roomier shower than the Breeze...big plus there even though a "small" thing overall.

Sunshine has the Alchemy Bar and JiJi's which Breeze does not have, so slightly more food and drink options. Sunshine also has the Havana Bar. But, Breeze does have Jimmys C-Side BBQ, though we were not real impressed with Jimmys. But, the Red Frog Pub on Breeze serves "bar food" which the Sunshine Red Frog Pub does not have.

Breeze is a "roomier" ship, simply because of its larger size. If the Waterworks matters, the Sunshine has an additional water slide not on the Breeze.

Some have complained here about the Sunshine feeling "more crowded" guess we did not really feel that on Sunshine. There is someone who posts here frequently that when he see's this thread will complain about the lack of refrigerators in all cabins, the smaller comedy club and the "crowded" feel of the Sunshine, though never actually having sailed on the Sunshine. To us, the comedy club is sort of a "relative" thing. We experienced some whacky "behavior" on the comedy club on the Breeze, we did not have on the Sunshine. The comedy clubs on ALL the ships are probably too small, but we saw many comedy shows on Sunshine, without the "issues" we experienced on the Breeze, but again, YMMV. So, all in all either ship can offer a very enjoyable cruise experience.

If you loved the Destiny, then you will love Destiny 2.0... because that's what it is, just the Destiny with a new name.

Most of the cabins on the Destiny 2.0 are the same... just new carpets. That means no refrigerator in most cabins, no interactive TV, poor internet throughout the ship.

The Destiny feels like they took five pounds of stuff and crammed it into a three pound bag... because that's exactly what they did. They added more cabins... which means more people, but they did not add more space to any of the venues. For example, they now have longer lines at the buffets and such because they are serving more people in the same space.

I shouldn't be totally negative. If the Destiny V2.0 was the only ship of all the cruise lines that had the itinerary I wanted, then I would go back on her. I did have fun on her. And she is not my least favorite ship that I have ever been on.

But... when you are comparing Destiny V2.0 and the Breeze, then there is no comparison. Go on the Breeze.

We just did the Sunshine and Breeze back to back. We didn't enjoy the drive from Port Canaveral to Miami, but loved both ships. This was our second trip on the Breeze. They feel so similar to me - I'd book either one again. DD10 like the waterpark a little better on the Sunshine. We didn't feel overwhelmingly crowded anywhere on either ship - other than the main pool on sea days. Just a note to new cruisers - We've been on 40+ cruises - EVERY pool is extremely crowded on every ship on sea days. For this reason, I would never let "crowded pool" comments sway my decision.

The food and service was excellent on both ships. One of our favorite shows is on the Sunshine. It's an 80's rock show - EXCELLENT!

Completely agree! I sailed on both this year. The only thing the Sunshine has over the Breeze is a nicer Serenity area, BUT at times even that becomes the 21-25 year old party pool. I took some pics of the crowding and lines because it was that bad.

Continued from above:

First time I had to "sign in" to dinner then take an elevator 3 floors down to this

Don't get me wrong, we had a good cruise but I, personally, would not cruise the Sunshine again with better options such as the Dream or the Breeze. The workers were way over worked and it showed. No fridge, "checking in" at dinner, smaller balconies, no way to check account on TV, the childrens arcade (I call the kiddy casino), very confusing layout, SMALL main pool pushes the younger adult crowd to the Serenity Pool and I can honestly say, I had NO idea who the CD was because I am not sure I ever seen or heard him. They also push ALL foot traffic through the Casino including children. That may be done on other ships, I cannot recall but was pronounced on the Sunshine. Hey, any cruise is a good cruise but I'll take the other options next time.

Loved the #thetruth Band!! Food was good, entertainment good and fewer lines for the comedy shows (believe it or not, I was shocked).
