Where else are you going?

Cayman is expensive compared to other ports.

But there is a store right there at the pier that has the price protection.

order it early enough in the day since they have to sent it to the ship. you can not carry it with you

Depends on what you are looking for. Appleton, and other better quality rums may be cheaper in Jamaica. However, if you are looking for some conversation starters, the store on the dock does have Great White (colorful bottle with a great white shark on the label) and Big Black Dick (named after the infamous pirate Richard Le Noir). BBD is a pretty good rum and comes in both light and dark.

As was previously mentioned, however, do your rum shopping early. Your purchases HAVE to be delivered to the ship, and they stop deliveries 1 hour before the tenders stop. Not 1 hour before sail time, but 1 hour before the last tender.

which is just to the left of where the tenders come in. If you buy before 11am they give an additional 15% discount. I find their prices much better than the ship and a few islands. Their brand rum is made by Appleton in Jamaica. They had Dewars 12 at $20, about half what the ship charges. All liquor bought on island gets delivered to the ship. You can't take it with you.
