I was on the SG in August. Will try to answer to the best of my recollection:

1. I understand there is no baggage help in Baltra, but are there carts?

I don't recall seeing any, but must admit I did not look.

2. would you/did you bring your own snorkel gear - mask?

The snorkel gear needs to be cleaned after each outing (to prevent bringing organisms to one island from another), so I would not bring my own. What they provide is good quality.

3. What is a great way to keep your camera dry?

I used a dry-pak with a strap. I wouldn't use it (or anything else) to take a land camera underwater, but it was great for the zodiac, etc. See http://www.amazon.com/Kwik-Tek-DP-65C-Camera-Clear/dp/B000FE5PBU/ref=sr_1_11?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1423357871&sr=1-11&keywords=dry+pak

4. Seriously, what is the wear when embarking?

Something comfortable.

5. And at night when outside at the Grill can you comfortably wear shorts?

I found it a bit cool for shorts.

6. Got any suggestions ? Thank you all and wishing for a fab trip in a few weeks!

Enjoy! It's a wonderful trip.

  • 2 weeks later...

We were on last week's western itinerary and there were no carts in Baltra airport.

We brought our own masks and lots of people brought their own wetsuits as well. I found their wetsuits to be quite comfortable but I didn't care for their masks and was glad that we brought our own.

On the plane, there were pants, jeans, leggings, long pants. Some women were in heels. Also many people wore jeans to dinner at the grill. We found it warm in the evening and didn't ever wear our sweaters. The only time I was in need of a wrap or sweater was inside when we met each evening in the Explorer room as air conditioning was cold.

We had a wonderful cruise - enjoy!
