any idea what the average cost of a taxi from ship to Coral World in St Thomas is? Is snagging a taxi from the dock a pretty easy, non-intimidating endeavor? Do you haggle with them, or is the price the price?

Estimate from Crown Bay: $14 for one person, or $10 per person for two or more.

Estimate from Havensight: $12 for one person, or $9 per person for two or more.

If you are on Oasis or Allure, you will be docked at Crown Bay. All other Royal ships dock at Havensight.

The prices are set and posted. It's a very easy process. You go to the taxi stand, they ask you where you want to go and point you to a taxi. They are a bit rushed to move you through, and you will probably have about a dozen people in your cab, but it's all pretty painless.
