Babynan Posted May 13, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 13, 2017 Hi. We are going on the Independence of the Seas at the end of September to the Mediterranean. We have been looking at some of the shore cruise from the ship, which we were not sure about. While looking at Livorno (for Florence and Pisa the excursions didn't seem to be what we wanted. It was either one or the other.) I found this company, TuscanyBus, which seemed to be quite good. It had a round trip to Florence and Pisa and back to the ship for quite a reasonable price. (38 Euros) While searching a bit further (isn't Google great for getting sidetracked. :D ) I noticed that they did a Rome trip for 19 Euros, which allowed 5 hours in Rome. This compared to one of the ships tours which was pretty much the same, and cost £48 each. Has anyone used this company, and if so, what are your opinions? 6rugrats Posted May 13, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 13, 2017 Suggest you search in the Italy forum in the Ports of Call section where this has been discussed many, many times. Search there and you can pull the threads up. We just took the train. Very easy.
Babynan Posted May 13, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted May 13, 2017 Thanks for that. I'm still lost trying to work my way around this Forum.:confused: James
easyboy Posted May 13, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 13, 2017 Read good things about Tuscanybus.com (more as a cheaper option) except in one previous thread. On the way back from Florence, the poster said their driver was insensitive to their constant reminder of being late in getting back to ship while waiting for other passengers. They almost did not make it. It may just be for that particular driver, not for all in the fleet. Just be mindful then of the bus schedules that are not too close on your return. Sauer-kraut Posted May 14, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2017 Link to the EUROPE Ports of Call forum: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=19 OP I know you were asking about this company, however, have you checked on your ROLL CALL for your saililng there might be others wishing to fill a private tour that will also work out a lot cheaper than what the cruise line offers. This might be something else to look into. :)
