Celebration....give it to me!

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

So I was trying to save this year and not do any cruises but clever Thomson have got my attention with an email.

I've seen a crazy deal that's too good to miss out on and as its around bonus time I deserve it :) but its on the Celebration...I know its an old ship and I'm used to the big boys, I went on the Discovery last September and that was my smallest and oldest ship by far...

So how old and run down is it? I'm more interested in the places its going but there's too many reviews saying is not looked after as its going this year and they say it vibrates ALOT...wouldn't bother me but it might my wife.

Reassure me pleeeeease

thanks

Just been on Celebration and can assure you that although old it is well maintained - my favourite ship as everything happens at the back of the ship and you don't miss a thing (except Horizons) and only 1200 passengers. Staff are wonderful, entertainment good and shows fabulous. It is a very friendly ship and that's what counts you want to feel comfortable and relaxed and that's what you get.

There is some vibration on both Celebration and Spirit but not all over the ship and you do get used to it. Get a cabin mid ships or nearer aft as you will be away from the anchor and the side thrusters used early morning, although there is vibration at the rear of the ship sometimes.

Spirit is leaving the fleet with Majesty end of this summers season but Celebration will be retained for a few years yet.

It was very good and as two women we did feel safe although apart from Muscat we did trips off the ship If I went again I would certainly buy the HoHo bus tickets which can be used in multiple ports of call

The weather wasnt as hot as I would have liked about 22C and sometimes there was a chilly wind

Best trip and recommended was Dubai by night which we did on our last night don't think I'd have still been awake if it had been the first night We flew Tuesday night. It was fantastic and well worth the money especially reaching the 124th floor of the Birj Kalifah in 60 seconds!!!

Did the Adriatic on Celebration last July. Loved her! We have been on some big ones too (QM2, Costa Diadema) and yes, Celebration is older and smaller but that's part of her charm. Cabins were older but very clean, food was excellent and service was wonderful. My parents are big P&O fans but they came with us and enjoyed it very much.

She'd better not be going this year as we are in the Caribbean with her next January!

Been on the Celebration twice, she's a grand old lady last time was February this year to Dubai staff are better than any other of Thomson ships, yes she does vibrate a bit i was on deck 7 and found this quite soothing I certainly would not let this put me off going on her again.

Save your money for a cruise on a proper ship, not this glorified ferry. I'm just off Celebration and it's the first cruise I've ever had where I've been glad to get off. There is absolutely no comparison between this ship and modern ships. The quality of cabins, food, entertainment and facilities just does not compare to RCI, MSC and Carnival ships I've been on.

I've walked off Celebration really cheesed off that I've waste money and my precious time off work on this rubbish. I'll he never set foot on a Thomson ship again....Absolute garbage.

We did Celebration last year. We normally use RC but did this ship due to itinerary. It is excellent. Great atmosphere and all the staff are brilliant. RC food is very very slightly better but I would never hesitate to do Celebration again. As for vibration within the first afternoon we didn't even notice it...it's a non event really.
