First time to St. Thomas--stay or St. John

Traveling with two active but still octogenarian companions. Would you recommend staying and exploring St. Thomas or taking the guided excursion to St. John. Swimming and beach time are not what we seek.

St John is all about the beaches (and hiking). Best to stay on St Thomas.

St. Thomas is a beautiful island. If this is your first time there I would suggest staying and seeing the island. St. John is a very beautiful island also but very undeveloped. If you are not into beaches I don't know if it is worth the time and effort to go over there.

If it's your first time to St. Thomas, by all means, tour the island. You can't go wrong with the views from Paradise Point and Mountain Top! St. John is delightful, especially for snorkeling. But see St. Thomas, and all of its beauty, for your first trip!
