The water tends to range from 2-4 ft, depending on where your tour boat anchors. Your DH could easily tow you over to a shallow part if needed.

 

You'd likely want a life vest if it's a windy day, as the waves can be tough to stand in sometimes. There's no way to predict in advance whether it'll be calm or wavy on the day you visit, however. Even the professionals can't guarantee what the weather will be like... :-)

 

Watershoes or swim shoes are not allowed at the sandbar, by government regulation. But, as the name suggests, it's very sandy there so you won't need them.
