Stingray City for nonswimmer

DH wants to go to Stingray City. He can swim but I cannot. I am 5'3" tall. Would I be able to stand in the water without getting knocked over by waves, etc.? Also, is the sandbar rocky? Do you need to wear watershoes?

The water tends to range from 2-4 ft, depending on where your tour boat anchors. Your DH could easily tow you over to a shallow part if needed.

You'd likely want a life vest if it's a windy day, as the waves can be tough to stand in sometimes. There's no way to predict in advance whether it'll be calm or wavy on the day you visit, however. Even the professionals can't guarantee what the weather will be like... :-)

Watershoes or swim shoes are not allowed at the sandbar, by government regulation. But, as the name suggests, it's very sandy there so you won't need them.

My boys are under 5 ft and they had no problem standing up in the water. It wasn't very wavy that day though, so I can't comment on if it is.

Plenty go with their young kids if that helps. We went with our 3,5,7 year olds 2 years ago and am going back again in 2 weeks.

The water in STingray City was very rough and up to my waist when we were there in December. I'm a good swimmer so it didn't bother me but you could ask for a life vest. Or book a tour that will let you cancel if the seas are rough.
