Relaxing Rita Posted January 12, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2015 I can only find negative comments about this port about how dirty, crowded the town is and the crazy drivers! Is it really not worth getting off the ship in this port??
Starlight Durban Cruising Posted January 13, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 13, 2015 I would do the Choo-Choo train in Maputo as it will give you all the sights in about 3 hours travelling around the city. It will be stopped right there as you get off the ship and it is great fun. Google "Maputo Express train tour" and you will see it. I've previously commented on Maputo as per the below postings I made. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1784206&highlight=maputo http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1557844&highlight=maputo Sure it might seem a bit of a rough diamond of a city, but the people that we interacted with were really nice and when with a tour group it is safer than doing it alone. But hey, that rule applies for almost any city in the world. In my view if this is the one chance I will get to visit a place then I will take the tour. If I like it and ever get the chance to visit the place again then at least I know for the next time on whether to get off the ship or not. Happy travels. Relaxing Rita Posted January 13, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted January 13, 2015 Well.... thank you so much for all the information! Much appreciated. I am with you... if you are there you just have to get off the ship and look around, we never have missed a port so hope we don't on this cruise. The 'train' looks to be a great thing to do, easy too. Again many thanks for you help... I may be back on the forum asking about other ports. Happy travels to you too!
