To the get free drink card you either have to earned a certain amount of points on your last cruise otherwise you receive it after 1500 points on the current cruise. I received mine the first night in the casino. You can go to the casino cage to get it or one of the hosts will find you and give you the card.

Thanks for your responses.

I know I didn't make 1500 points my last cruise, nor my husband, so no drink card for us.

This is different on NCL, it doesn't matter how many points you accrue prior (we didn't make the points with them either), as long as CAS books your cruise, you will automatically get drink cards, that are waiting for you in your cabin when you arrive. I was hoping Carnival would be the same, but unfortunately its not. Would love my free drinks in the casino. I'll never play that much to get 1500 in one cruise.

I have exchanged emails with Martin (1 of 2 executive hosts with Carnival) and he explained that the drink card is automatically given if you reached 5,000 points on your previous sailing. The other 2 ways that I am aware of getting the drink card are (1) earning the 1,500 points during a 7 day cruise or (2) booking a Premier Casino Cruise. If you just book a normal cruise through the casino group but one of the three options above do not apply, I do not think they will give you a drink card. There is an option for a junket or land based tour company providing the drink cards, but that would be offer specific in my mind. I know that NCL gives the drink cards with the comp cruises, but I can say for sure that Carnival doesn't do it that way, as I only got mine after communication with Martin where he explained the rules.

Thanks for your response. Sounds like I'm not getting a drink card.

I did call the players club, to see if I or my DH qualified for any other perks. Answer was no, since our cruise was already comped, that was basically enough, lol.

My fiancé has got a free cruise. She most likely will again get a free drink card. She doesn't drink. I do. But I don't gamble much. Does anyone know a solution or have you encountered this. Last cruise they gave her a drink card and told her not to share your drinks. She got one drink and gave it to me, but was uneasy doing this too much. I do play table games but not enough to get the free drink card. All our money comes from the same kitty, so what's the difference.

Also I noticed last cruise that some people had a lanyard around they're neck with black cards in them at the poker table. They were free drink cards of some sort. My fiancé they just stuck a sicker on her card. Anyone have an idea what they were?

I had my card on day 1 on the last cruise, now my traveling partner drinks me not so much he had bottomless bubbles so he would get a soda and I would get a drink he would come to casino and we would switch glasses.

Yes I know you are not supposed to and its not like it occurred all the times we only did it a few times.

LOTS OF BAD ANSWERS GIVEN HERE.

Actually, good answers, but to the wrong question. The OP was talking about Carnival, but many of the answers were about NCL. Some of the answers might have been CCL or NCL - hard to tell. And, some were specifically about CCL.

Always interesting here.

What's the difference?

Easy, they want to take care of serious gamblers. Just business, that's all. They expect the person getting the drinks will play enough to recover the cost. Personally, my "free" drinks cost me about $20 each in "donations" to the casino. So, they love giving me more "free" drinks.

For CCL the drinks on us card is thick card stock with a little chain attached to your sign and sail card and the casino will write the dates on it that it is effective. Each time you order a drink they check the card and sail and sign number and add the drink to the account but zero it out so for each drink you ordered subtracting the charge. If you order drinks outside the casino they will not be subtracted off.

Hi Southjerseycruiser,

Did you ask for the drink card at the casino or did they just approach and you and they gave it to you?

What were you playing and what was your beginning bet?

Since I always get over the 5000 points on every cruise the drink card is always waiting for me on the next cruise. However....I booked the "pack & play" offer ($130 pp for a balcony cabin on an 8 day Breeze cruise in Aug) and was told I wouldn't get the drink card since it was a special offer :(

popsec, Hopeful that they will give you the "on us" drink card after you get 1500 points. Good luck while playing in the casino:) Pink PS thats a great price for a balcony on the Breeze. They usually buy my wife's drinks until she hits 1500 points.
