Walk up to the Gardens (Prince Albert Park).

Catch a ferry to Devonport and have a nice lunch over there.

If they have the markets on by the railway station, grab a bite there.

Check out the free library in the containers on the waterfront, nice yachts and boats to see as well.

Shop for some Wellies.

Sky tower and maybe the bungy jump.:D

Auckland is easy to do. In front of where the ship docks is the Hop On Hop Off bus.A lot of folk just stay on and and do the circuit. They dont bother hopping off. The ferry to Devonport is a short ride and at the end of the pier you can take a tour/shuttle up to the top of Mt Victoria for great views. Then back to the City. Up to Sky Tower and then wander down to the Viaduct and new Wynyard area.

Waiheke is nice but your time frame might make it a bit rushed.

The new Britomart precinct, to the left in that picture, is worth a quick visit as well. There are some interesting shops and restaurants, and right at the end of the Atrium on Tatukai there is an excellent cafe, Espresso Workshop, that has seriously good coffee.

BTW another block further on there is a large Countdown supermarket.

You said no to museums but 5 mins walk from the berth is the maritime museum

We did the museum for a short time but the highlight for an hour was the included sail around the harbour

All the people on the ship were volunteers and great to talk to about sailing and Auckland

Very reasonably priced
