Have done snorkeling over the volcanoes in Dominica and it was a blast. Very different from any other snorkeling experience to swim over the rising sulphuric bubbles. Saw alot including sea turtles.

So was that at Mero Beach? That was the OP's question, which is what I wanted to know too.:)

I am sorry I don't remember the name as we were on a tour, but none of the beaches in Dominica "look good" for snorkeling as there is black sand and volcanic stone on all of them. It was a challenge to get in and out over the stones, rocks and surf . . But well worth it. Sorry I couldn't be more specific.

Go to Scott's head if you can. It was 70' visibility the day we were there. It's got a nice drop off a ways out. We saw lots of stuff and a turtle. Watch out for sea berries though. I got hit by one and it stings similar to a jelly fish. Beware though, the beach is mostly small rocks but it's definitely worth it if you're going to be snorkeling.
