Loro Parq Tenerife

Recommended Posts

Wasn't sure if Canary Islands posts go in this Spain forum or the 'other' forum- but that one seems dominated by Turkey so I thought I'd post here!

Would like to visit Loro Parq when we dock at Santa Cruz Tenerife. However, we are only docked from 7am to 4pm. Assuming the park opens at 9 and we get there for opening, and that we leave at 2, that means we won't have very long there. Is it worth going for this amount of time? The excursion through the cruise line costs £50 each so its a bit pricey for 5 hours, but we would really like to go.

I'm a new cruiser so nervous of using independant excursions or going DIY, but if its a lot cheaper and fairly easy to DIY then please let me know!

I can't answer the question about getting there independently, but I went to the park last year on a ship organised excursion and had a nice day

The park isn't that huge and I found that I had plenty of time to see everything I wanted to :)

Enjoy your trip :D

Thanks Darcy15- so the £50 each is worth it? Seems like a lot for half a day but we do love wildlife parks! Maybe I'm just being cheap and need to loosen the purse strings a bit :p

If it helps, this is what we saw 11 years ago. If you could get there for 9, 4 hours would be plenty to see it all, so if there is a decent bus from SC up there you have plenty of time to DIY if that's what you want. All the best, Tony

it is very easy to take the public bus from Santa Cruz to Puerto de la Cruz. Once there you can take a taxi to Loro Parque. Taxis are cheap in the Canaries. Although Loro Parque does put on free shuttle buses from the centre of Puerto. Much cheaper than paying £50 each. All ship excursions are vastly overpriced and in the Canaries very easy to organise something yourself.
