Gem - 1st day

Dows anyone know if any of the dining rooms are open for lunch on the first day? If so, which one and until what time?

Also what time is the muster drill and is it on deck outside or in the lounge areas, etc.?

Anything else I need to know for the first day? :-)

Muster drill will be where your muster station is, having said that, they are usually held indoors in the dining rooms and theater. Usually the Midship restaurant will be open for lunch.

On our May 30th Gem cruise to Fla and Bahamas ( 8 day) muster was held at 2:30pm.

Grand Pacific ( aft MDR ) was open for lunch 12 noon to 1:30 pm, buffet, pool grill and Great Outdoors 11:30 to 2 pm and O'Sheehans 11:30 to 2:00pm.

Staff may try to direct you to the buffet, but one of the MDRs will be open. Once on the Jewel we boarded quite early and the MDR wasn't open yet. We knew it would be shortly though, so we just went there and waited a few minutes. Its a much more relaxing way to start your vacation.
