Port Authority to NYC Pier

We have walked the past few cruises but need to take a taxi this time. Wondering what entrance/street would be the best to catch a cab to the pier.If someone would know the approx. cost t that would help too. On the return I know there is a cab stand across from the pier. This is always crowded. Any suggestion to avoid the crowd. Maybe walking a block or two down. Would this help?

The cabs can be found on 8th avenue outside the entrance. The cost of the ride will vary according to volume of traffic and the possible waiting delays as the cabs line up to discharge passengers at the port. I should say that some cabs leave passengers off on street level at the port. The cost could be anywhere from &12 to &20 depending on the above issues.

There are two cab stands since there are actually two buildings North and South with North building on 42nd St.

The Port Authority Bus Terminal provides taxi dispatch services during the hours listed below:

South Wing

Sunday – Thursday 6:30 am – 10:30 pm

Friday and Saturday 6:30 am – 11:00 pm

North Wing

Monday – Friday

6:30 am – 9:30 am

5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
