My Breeze 1/13 Review 1/13

INCHARGE

Recommended Posts

It is going to take some time, so bear with me.

Sit back for the ride, because some wild thing happened on this cruise. Ready?

I chose my username INCHARGE because of the decision to be "Incharge" of my own happiness. Having survived a divorce, 3 heart surgeries for Aortic Aneurysms, Breast Cancer, Stroke, and broken face from concrete slamming into it from a fall, nothing has gotten in my way from enjoying life every day. Moving on...:D

I am a 60 year old Cougar married to this 54 year old "Child." I am Gloria, and he is James. He has grown to love cruising as much as I have. There were 3 couples in all, but was supposed to be 4.

1/12 -Miami- We arrived at the Intercontinental Hotel at 10am. Beautiful rooms and friendly people. Our luggage was held for us until the room became available. The staff there were great, and because we got there so early, we asked if we could possibly have a room with a view of the port. We ended up with a beautiful view. They even called us when the rooms were ready.

What surprised me that 1 of the ships had to dck on the other side.

We enjoyed the day at Bayside, having lunch at Bubba Gump, and doing some last minute shopping. One of the couples did not arrive until that evening, so we ended up going back to Bayside that evening for dinner. The men found somewhere to look at a football game tht night, while we ladies did shopping. There is a beautiful walk to Bayside from the hotel on the water, with many people enjoying the parks and view.

We walked back on the street side, stopping at CVS to purchase 2 bottles of Moscotto each, which tasted pretty good. Our Cabin Steward gave us a cork screw. Each couple also each purchased a case of water.

Sad part of our trip: Friends from N. Carolina were due in the morning of the cruise. Hubby waited until that night to get his Birth Certificate out of his safe. Not there! After searching all night, my tearful best friend called me to say they could not come. All money lost, including tips and airfare. Hopefully they double checked with the airline to see if something could be done about a credit. I could not ask her, bescause she was too upset.

We were told not to arrive until 1pm to the port, so we took advantage of the nice hotel facilities. The men went to the Gym, and 2 of the ladies hung out in the spa. I chilled out in the room, enjoying my morning. We had a cab waiting for us at 1:30.

Here is where it got crazy:

BIL realized he had lost his phone as we were getting ready to enter the port!! Panic

took over, because he needed to contact his children and grands, so he wanted his phone. I decided to call the number, and the cab driver casually answered.."Helloooo." Boy, were we glad he answered, because he had no idea who had left the phone there, and he was already ready to pick up his next fare. Thankfully he brought it back to the port for us, so my DH and I waited for it, since we are Platinum, and did not have to do the lines. We tipped him nicely for bringing it back. By the time we got in, everyone had already boarded. It is really cool to wait until later, because you are not waiting long. Just enjoy your morning before going to the port.

We went directly to our cabins, because they were all ready by the time we boarded.

Everyone had Cove Balconies. We has 2349, which had a nice shaded lifeboat covering. Our friends had 2301, and 2297. These cabins do not have the lifeboats overhead, so they had plenty of sun. My BH did not want the sun, so we kept our cabin instead of moving where they were, which I had the option of doing when we first booked. Lunch on Lido, followed by unpacking and exploring the ship.

I am not sure if this video will play, but if it does, please excuse the cabin. It was several days into the cruise. Cut off your volume, because it was my first try on this ipad. sorry.

We had reservations at the Steakhouse for dinner that night at 8:30 to celebrate my birthday. This was our treat to the other couples, to help me celebrate. The 6 of us had a wonderful time. The food was excellent, and the service was great. Since it was the first night, there were bottles of wine for free. One red, and 1 white. They gave us a red wine, and 2 bottles of Moscotto, because that is the only kind I will drink. James had purchased roses and a cake, which was served after the dessert from dinner. He also gave each husband a rose to give to their wives. We all wore red, which is my favorite color, and the men wore something red with their suits. This was a dress up occasion for us, even though it is a casual night on the first night. ps..I wear short wigs during my formal nights. Hair is an accessory to me, so you will see many different looks. :D This all started after my Chemo days. I decided to have fun with hair. As I always say...enjoy each and every day of your life.

With the "Snoozing" sign on the door, no interruptions. We got in very late frm the casino, and wanted to sleep in. We had met out Cabin Steward earlier, and he was wonderful. James and I decided to go walking on the track. It was a beautiful morning, and everybody was out. After many laps, we saw a Volleyball game going on. We sat on the bleachers and watched the games, which were lots of fun. Then they had dodgeball games, which were just as much fun to watch. After that, we played some putt putt golf. I won't brag, but I did beat him. :D

I tried to get DH to do the rope obstacle, but he chickened out. We had a great time up there, so check it out. He then went to the Steam room to relax, and I went to the Serenity deck and read for a while.

I am not sure, but I think this was the day of the slot Tournament. I joined with the "buy i-get 1 free" deal. Well, makes no difference, because i did not do didley. Terrible scores both times.

NOTE: Outside Bar-b-que location: If you have a balcony on the 6th floor, make sure it is not near the right middle section. They have a outside BBQ grill right below these cabins. I looked up at a lady literally coughing on the smoke billowing onto her balcony. I would not have been happy there. The lines were always long at this location. I am not a big BBQ person, so I never stood in line to get it.

Formal night was fun for all, and the Maitre D sang Happy Birthday. He is a wonderful singer. Another night at the casino followed.

Looks like you had fun. 60 looks great on you!!!

Thank you. We had a ball. I will be posting about Grand Turk later. Please let me know if the video came thru. I can't tell on this ipad.

I have some funny stries to tell...like the evening I was "forced' to do the Tina Turner "Rolling on the River" Dance. I'm telling ya, I was forced, because I am so shy.

Someone asked about the difference in the Dream and the Breeze on my other thread. I found more room on deck 5 on the Dream than on the Breeze.

So glad to find your review....we have the Breeze in April. And, like you, we visit Bayside Market pre-cruise, lunch at Bubba Gumps AND visit the Steakhouse our first night at sea. So...keep talking, Sister!

I like this picture because you can see the ship name on both sides

I have gone there before, and had a horrible tour guide. He only drove us in a circle, and we did not see hardly anything.

Our tour guide on this trip was awesome. We purchased tickets at the port, right as you come in at the pink hut. I think they were $20 each.

If you notice, there are only 4 of us. BIL was not feeling well, and they hung out on the ship this day. He was feeling fine by that evening.

Enjoying your review, you had me laughing so hard the other day about the balcony not being as private as you thought, we booked a cove balcony for November, i pray that we have total privacy.;)

Keep this coming, i can't wait for more.:)

We had our usual late wakeup sea day, followed by a walk on the track. Each morning we had an Omelette at the Omelette booth. This is the same area that is used for the Mongolian Wok for lunch.

This was a lazy day at sea for us. Serenity deck, My 2nd day of the slots tornament, a litle casino, reading on the balcony.

James and I went into the Disco during the day to take fun pics.

Evening found us in the Piano Bar, where Ron Pass had me come up and sang Happy Birthday to me. He asked me my age, and I told him I was sixty. He made up a cute song where he sang my age as "six...ty-een." It was fun. James made sure that my birthday week was all week. It was funny, since it was the first day of the cruise.

We hung out people watching after we left the piano bar.

We like to play Spades and Hearts, but the card decks in the casino has no jokers.

I went to the front desk and got brand new decks. We played well into the night, and therefore saved money from the casino.
