Hi!

Welcome back... glad you liked Mariner! My husband and I are booked on her on 9/4 and can hardly wait...I'm so anxious to read all the reviews from people who have just recently sailed on her as it makes the waiting time easier (if it can be easier...lol) We anxiously await your review...did you do the eastern or western trip? We are on the eastern and are looking for some good tips of what to see and what not to see and where the shopping is the best and also looking for the nicest beaches.

We did the Eastern. We had two rooms on deck 8. One was a balcony on the hump, and the other was a promanade room. Hubby and myself in one, and two kids in the other. The balcony was an E1. Loved it.

Did not do alot of shopping. Did go to Trunk Bay at St John's. TOok the excursion through RCCL. One of the nicest beaches I have been to. Also did Orient Beach. the kids liked that even better. There was alot more to do there.

We are planning on doing the Eastern on the Mariner next year how many did you have in a cabin and what kind of cabin, thanks....

Just wanted to let you know that my family did the Mariner in 2003. There were 4 of us. Me, my husband and 2 teenagers. We stayed in a balcony cabin D1. It was crowded, especially when they pulled the sofa bed out at night. Very hard to walk around. Don't know how many you have in your family, I just wanted to let you know our experience. We are sailing again on RCCL Nov. 2006 on Freedom of the Seas. This time I booked a balcony E1 and a Promenade cabin for the 4 of us.

We were in 8616. Joel was our attendant. Very nice. the room was in good shape. Plenty of room for two, lots of hangers in closet, and suitcases fit under the bed

The weather was wonderful except for one afternoon in St Thomas. Luckily we had finished our shore excursion and were heading back to the ship when it started to rain. We did miss out on going into town to shop because we did not feel like walking around in the rain. All the other days were sunny and very hot.

Did not have a problem with chair hogs. They were there, putting their stuff on seats for hours, but we always managed to find a couple of chairs. I love to lay out in the sun, but even I was not able to handle the heat all day long. Bring a spray bottle to mist yourself.

We're going to be in 8324. How was the balcony? Good view? How much privacy do you have? A couple questions about dining, what night do they do the lobster and what night do they have the Caribbean night? Did you go to chops and/or portofiinos? Lastly any suggestions? Sounds like you had a good time, looking forward to your review!!

We also just returned from the Mariner. Wish we were still there! It was a fabulous trip! (Hey Debbie!) We had two inside cabins on 8--DH and I in one, our 2 teenage sons in the other. We had plenty of room, although we were not in the cabins very much. The shows were great--DO NOT miss the ice show. I was very impressed. Embarkation was smooth. We stayed at the Raddisson the night before and got to the ship around 11:15--on board by 12. Food was great--no complaints. Waiters and cabin steward were wonderful--very helpful. There was so much to do--we couldn't do it all. There's so much to say--I'll answer any questions I can.

The ship did not seem overrun with kids. they were well behaved. We saw mostly teenagers because thats what we have. They were all polite and never rowdy. My kids liked hanging out with other kids. My 19 year old liked watching the casino. they both also spent alot of time in the Dragon's Lair.

Hi Janis. Glad you made it back ok. It was nice meeting you all. If you come to Cary, let us know. debbie

I am also interested in this question about the formal dresses. What nights are formal night? My dresses are VERY formal, but I don't want to be overdressed for a summer formal. Did you see many tuxes on the men?

Debsavas, that is the exact area that our cabin is in for our Mariner trip in October. Did you like the location, was it convenient to everything and was the balcony view good or was there any obstructions? It isn't our cabin but we are a few down on the same side. Also, since you did Eastern (and so are we) how were the views from that side?

doverite, I'll let you know more about your cabin when we get back in October because we booked the cabin right next to yours (or two down from yours...I can't remember exactly right now but it is within two cabins from the one you listed)

The room was 8616 and it was in the perfect location. Right in the middle of the ship, close to the elevator. We never heard any noise at all. The balcony was great too. No obstructed views. In Nassau you could look out and see Atlantis.

The e1 hump is in the middle of the ship where it protrudes out. We could see from our room all the way to the front of the ship.

My kids were in 8593. It was not noisy at all. We watched the parade from there room. Since its inside it is very dark. If I did not wake them in the morning they would sleep all day.

Formal nights were Monday and Friday. People were dressed upin all types of outfits. From very formal to short dresses. Whatever you choose will fit right in. Men were in tuxes, but I think I saw more men in dark suits.
